Proper use of lead acid batteries
We will give you a few tips on how to properly use the lead-acid battery of an electric bicycle:
- Do not charge immediately upon arriving home. Stop for half an hour and wait for the battery temperature to drop before charging.
- It’s best to charge the battery when it’s down to 35% remaining.
- When charging the electric bicycle in summer, the green light should illuminate, and then the charger can be disconnected.
- Prevent the battery from being exposed to the sun! The battery cannot be charged immediately after sun exposure, otherwise, it may become cracked or deformed and must be cooled down before charging.
- Charging time should not exceed a maximum of 8 hours. When the indicator light on the charger changes from red to green, you can continue charging for up to two more hours. Since the charger continues to charge the battery with a lower current after the charger indicator turns green, it is not possible to overcharge the battery.
- Before charging, first connect the charger to the battery, and then plug in the power supply.
- After charging, first disconnect the power supply, and then disconnect the battery.
- Do not fully discharge the battery, not even once, as it will cause irreversible damage to the battery.
- It is strictly prohibited to ride without power! If the user does not recharge the electric bicycle until it is capable of riding, it will seriously damage the battery’s performance. Multiple deep discharges will significantly shorten the battery’s lifespan. If the battery is insufficiently charged, it is best to pedal forward or push the electric bicycle to prevent deep discharge. It must be fully recharged again; if not fully charged, it will reduce the battery’s lifespan.
- Do not use fast chargers for charging!
- Do not drive with overload, especially on uphill slopes, as sudden increases in power consumption will damage the battery and can easily cause the motor controller to burn out.
- If you are not using the electric bicycle, please fully charge it and turn off all switches (including the headlight switch, turn signal switch, key switch, automatic switch, etc.).
- If the electric bicycle will not be used for an extended period, charge the battery once every 2 weeks! When the charger indicator light turns green, you can disconnect the charger.
- If the charging voltage for the lead-acid battery of the electric bicycle, rated at 48V, drops below 42V, it indicates that the battery is damaged due to human factors, and no warranty is provided.
- If the battery is deformed due to overcharging or exposure to the battery and vehicle, it is not covered by the warranty.
- Please strictly adhere to the instructions!
